The Lotus Pose or Padmasana is a very relaxing and peaceful meditation pose in yoga used to connect and bring awareness to the mind body and soul.
In this Pose we are in a seated position which allows us to anchor and ground through the root chakra where we draw up the positive universal energy through the ground (earth) and draw that energy up through our bodies and chakras, as well as draw the universal energy from above down through our crown chakra to meet with our earth energy as our physical bodies align and became taller and stronger allowing our minds to rest creating a sensation of Harmony and Peace within.
Benefits of Lotus Pose
As the energy travels up from the root chakra up to the sacral chakra, you will feel the physical body anchor and ground itself and start to engage that inner core to stabilise the body to give us support and stability, it is then drawn up through the solar plexus, inviting in positive, happy energy (this is our happy place the place of joy, creativity and ideas) then up through the heart chakra where we expanded and open our chest inviting in unconditional love.
As the gorgeous energy travels up to the throat chakra from the heart chakra you will feel this wonderful sensation where our shoulders relax and drop down away from the ears, our chin and head will lift away from the chest creating space and opening and expanding the chest more whilst opening the throat allowing for expression and communication.
At this point we feel quite centred, peaceful and relaxed as the energy continues to draw up to the third eye and crown chakra we start to connect to the universal energy from above as we start to draw in energy down through the crown chakra and down through the third eye centring our minds and calming our thoughts as the energy continues down through the throat chakra meeting and connecting with the energy from the earth at the heart chakra, aligning all our chakras and our mind, body and soul to become one with the universal energy.
As we grow taller and stronger, like a lotus flower blooming out of the murky deeps, reaching up and blossoming towards the sun opening up our gorgeous petals to all that life has to offer.
